Redcliffe Leagues Padres

about us

Redcliffe Padres is the largest single season baseball club in Australia. We submit teams in every competition, so we have an abundance of options for our playing members to participate in a competition suitable to their age and ability. In 2019-2020 and 20-21 seasons, Padres was named the GBL’s Junior and Senior Club of the Year.

In the 2022-23 season, we celebrated 30 years on the peninsula but our club actually began over 60 years ago!

Since 1992

Although 1992-93 was our foundation year, Redcliffe baseball club was founded in 1948 by American ex-serviceman, Chuck Carroll and was named Redcliffe Whitesox. 1992-93 saw us rebrand as the Peninsual Padres and start to recruit junior players. That season saw us field 3 senior teams and 5 junior teams (U10s – U18s). Jump forward 10 years and Padres field 6 Senior teams and 20 Junior teams and for the first time since our inception, all major teams qualify for finals. 2002-23 was also the year Padres had their first female Australian Women’s Baseball team rep – Lisa Kirby.

In 2004-2005, after 12 years of baseball the club finally had their own fields with a move to Talobilla Park. Time to build, grow and reach our full potential as a club.

In 2009-2010 Padres player Daniel Nilsson represented Australia in the World Youth Baseball Championship for the first time.

Jump forward to the 2013-14 season and construction started on our new indoor batting cage facility, our club continued to grow and Padres Major A grade finished runners up and our AAA claimed the premiership for the third year in a row.

If we jump another 10 years to present day Padres, our teams, coaching staff and players, both seniors and Juniors have achieved incredible things – winning championships, representing their region, state and even Australia and we couldn’t be more proud!
